　　In the deep jungles of darkest Peru, British geographer Montgomery Clyde happens upon a previously unknown species of bear. He is about to shoot it to take back a specimen to the United Kingdom when another bear playfully takes his gun away. He learns that this family of bears is intelligent and can learn English, and that they have a deep appetite for marmalade. He names them Lucy and Pastuzo. As he departs, he throws his hat to Pastuzo and tells the bears that they are always welcome should they wish to go to London.
　　Several years later, the two bears are living in harmony with their nephew when an earthquake strikes their home, forcing them to seek shelter underground. After being trapped by a falling tree, Uncle Pastuzo is unable to reach the shelter in time and dies from his injuries. The next morning, Uncle Pastuzo’s hat is found by his nephew. Aunt Lucy encourages her nephew to go and find solace in London, and stows him away on a cargo ship, after which she says she will move into the Home for Retired Bears.

　　Jack (Austin Williams) is an eleven-going-on-twelve year old boy living a privileged life in upstate New York. He and his parents (Joseph Gian and Lucie Arnaz) are major fans of the New York Yankees and have attended many of their games. As he and his father are called to dinner, Jack goes through a temporary state of anemia and drops the ball. His parents are convinced that something is terribly wrong with their son.
　　The scene switches to Jack in the hospital, where he has contracted cancer to the point where he is completely bald. As he is carted away for an operation, his parents stay behind, and his chaperone Nurse Cyndi (Cyndi Lauper) sings a jaunty tune of “Take Me Out to The Ball Game” to no avail of lifting the boy’s spirits. She leaves Jack outside the room, but not before she treats Jack with a sedative to give him “sweet dreams”. Unhappy with the hardships brought upon by his newly contracted illness, Jack contemplates the (seemingly) final moments of his life until he is greeted by a guardian angel taking the form of a Yankees executive named Henry. At first, Jack is hesitant to watch the game while he waits, but unwittingly accepts Henry’s offer and the man takes him into a imaginary plane of existence where the 20th century is timeless, illness has no existence, the Yankee players of the past are alive and well and most of all, his hair is back.

　　Mae Hartley and Gabby Harrison are super-smart tenth graders. Two days earlier, the two of them have finished a calculus test under 9 minutes much to the annoyance of the other classmates. Mae has a crush on a jock named Jaden and thinks that he is going to invite her to the Homecoming dance. However, she is publicly humiliated by Nevaeh, a cheerleader and mean girl who is already going with Jaden. In her embarrassment, Mae claims that she already has a boyfriend. To cover the lie, Gabby offers to program a virtual boyfriend for Mae using a computer software called the X-17 which is owned by Mae’s father Dr. James Hartley which they think is used to design high definition video game characters. Gabby successfully creates a virtual boyfriend according to Mae’s direction, and names him Albert.
　　The X-17 software goes haywire and short circuits Mae’s dad’s computer. Mae’s brother Bart agrees to fix the computer if Gabby will go to homecoming with him. But the next morning, Albert actually shows up at school, amazing everyone, especially Nevaeh. Albert soon shows that he can speed read and throw/kick harder than normal humans. Bart tells Gabby she created a robot soldier and hacked into the Pentagon (where his dad happens to work for the United States Department of Defense that uses Superior Gaming as a front) to do so. But this creates a string of problems as General McFee discovers the prototype robot soldier, who happens to be Albert, has escaped. The army presumes he has been stolen. Mae’s father tries everything he can to convince General McFee the prototype soldier will be brought back to the facility.

　　Eddie (Jonathan Silverman), is the trainer to a big Hollywood star, Beethoven the St. Bernard. At the moment, they are shooting a film called Spy Dog. After 42 takes, the director chews out Eddie and the producer (Morgan Fairchild) on his way to the coffee machine. Shortly after, Eddie and Beethoven get fired and send away in a rental car. How dare they? But, Eddie concedes something is amiss with his talented canine. One the way back home to Hollywood, the car breaks down in a most unusual place. On the coast, the town is a planned community to celebrate its heritage as a place where a pirate named O’Malley hung out. There is a museum, a bed and breakfast, and other touristy things. Unfortunately, there is only one small mechanic shop, run by a harried owner, Phil (Dave DeLuise). Needing parts, the only recourse Eddie has is to stay at the B and B. At a critical moment, Ed sees the owner, Grace (Jayne Eastwood) booting out a magician with a rabbit while pointing to the sign that says NO PETS. So, first, Beethoven has to be snuck in after paying for the night. Happily, the innkeeper has a beautiful daughter, Anne (Kristy Swanson) and a smart preteen grandson Sam (Bretton Manley) who make friends with Eddie.
